“Ogi Okesa” Dance Circle

The sailors of the Kitamaebune (a shipping route in Japan from the Edo to the Meiji periods) brought the Hanya-bushi from Kyushu up east, where the geishas of Ogi added parlor dance choreography to create what is now known as the Ogi Okesa.

After Saturday night’s Harbour Market Concert, everyone is invited to dance in the street with the locals.
