Easy-Breezy Sea Kayaking

Love the great outdoors? Want some exercise during EC? Enjoy stunning natural views around the Ogi Peninsula from the water in a sea kayak. It’s one of the most popular ways to enjoy the sea here on Sado Island. There will be an instructor leading the way and beginners are very welcome.

Fun in the Sea with Stand-up Paddleboards

Try this popular marine activity this summer on Sado Island. Stand-up paddle boarding involves balancing on a large surfboard and propelling yourself forward with a long oar. It’s fun, refreshing, and good for improving core strength, too!

Leisurely Guided Cycling Tour Around Ogi

Explore the greater Ogi area by bike with a local tour guide. When you arrive in Shukunegi, you’ll take a walk through the historic village and look for a cave with 88 stone Buddha statues. This tour lets you get some fresh air and exercise as you take in all the sights!

Traditional Rice Cooking and Tasting at Iwakubi Shoryu Terraced Rice Fields

The Iwakubi Shoryu Terraced Rice Fields were registered as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) in 2011 by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). "Shoryu" means "climbing dragon," and this name reflects the shape of the tiered paddies in the village of Iwakubi that ascend the steep hills towards the sky. Visit these rice fields during EC to enjoy spectacular views, make a bowl out of bamboo, and taste rice grown in this eco-friendly setting that has been cooked using a traditional method.

Sado Sake Brewery & Gourmet Food Tour [CANCELED]

Niigata Prefecture is famous for sake (Japanese rice wine). Offshore Sado Island is one of Niigata's thriving sake hubs, with pure water and top-notch rice allowing breweries to produce some of the best sake around. Come and indulge yourself on a tour that visits some of Sado's iconic sake breweries. Along with various tasting, you'll learn about the sake-making process and enjoy a gourmet lunch paired with local sake.
