Launched in 2018, the “Resounding Island–SADO” project entices people to Sado all year by sharing information about events on the island. EC is one of the initiative’s featured events. We hope many people will enjoy the three days of EC and more in summer, and visit Sado Island in other seasons, too!
Hello Japan Sea Cinema
Up on the hill at Shiroyama Park, there will be an outdoor cinema this year. Come and lie on the lawn, under the stars, and enjoy a film or two on the big screen. The lineup will include a movie shot on Sado Island and a talk by its director. Stay tuned for programme updates!

Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival
The present connects the past and future. So do the arts. This project aims to position Sado Island as a global hub for arts and culture. In 2019, we have another eclectic lineup: SADOMMUNE, Bon Dance Art Project, and new activities including Sado Art Tour and Cosmo Interactive Game Project. The organizing committee is gearing up for the festival’s official launch in 2021.

Evening Illumination at Kitazawa Flotation Plant Historic Ruins (Sado Gold Mine)
The majestic ruins of Kitazawa Flotation Plant are a symbol of Sado Gold Mine. From April through January, this historic site will be lit up at night with an LED light display.

Harigoma & Noroma Puppet Performances
The Niibo area on Sado Island has a long, rich history of puppet theater. This summer there will be six weekend performances featuring two distinct styles: Harigoma and Noroma Puppets.
